Genesis Vapour

A cyclo-cross bike is a highly versatile bike, especially when, like with the Vapour, it comes equipped with mudguard eyelets, bottle bosses and rack mounts.

The vapour is a bike that gives an inspired ride in all scenarios, whether you are looking for your hour in hell while hammering round the local cyclo cross race course or just taking 30 minutes out to escape it all on the ride home. The Vapour is more rugged than a road bike, plus its useful frame fittings, added comfort and cross-terrain ability means the Vapour is a bike for roamers as well as racers.

For the racers Genesis have used a light, stiff triple-butted 6069 ALX-9 tube set and a carbon fork with an aluminium steerer to keep the weight down and the efficiency up. The cable routing is all on the top tube, keeping the down tube clear so that when you lift the bike by the down tube for shouldering, it won’t risk mis-aligning the gears. The top tube is level to make shouldering up the stairs to your front door or up the bank of a race course easy. The front derailleur gets a dedicated roller on the rear of the seat tube to convert the top tube cable-run to a down pull standard, the roller gets a neat cover to keep the dirt out and clearances allow for sticky UK off-road conditions.

Geometry is pure cyclo-cross, so it’s a fast ride off-road, yet it offers a smooth, confident feel if used on tarmac.

Rear rack and guard mounts make this a more practical choice than most ‘cross bikes and hint at its most common use – as an all-round, on/off road, touring/commuting/singletracking 700C bike.
