Look 576The Look 576 is virtually unique as a design concept - it combines the real aerodynamic advantage that comes with a dedicated top quality triathlon/time trial specific frame with the handling, low weight and rider position (notably at the front end) that you would expect from a standard road race bike. Making the 576 an ideal bike for rolling technical time trail courses that are typically found in triathlons, as well as fast flat drag strips, while at the same time offering true versalility for use as an aero road bike if fitted with standard drop bars. Many dedicated triathlon/time trial bikes are just too low at the front end for riders who either lack flexibility in their backs/necks or who have proportionally long legs. Other riders also prefer a slightly more relaxed position on the bars for reasons of comfort, especially over longer distances, or because they need to carry less weight through their arms and shoulders. A slightly higher bar position can also have significant handling benefits on technical or hilly courses, and can enable riders to maximise their power output - in an effort to get as low as possible some competitors can end up sacrificing power output for little or no real aerodynamic benfit. The Look 576 addresses these rider needs by offering a slightly longer head tube than other specialist time trial framesets - resulting in increased comfort, reduced shoulder fatigue, improved handling and optimal power transfer at the cost of very little additional wind resistance. The Look 576 has triathlon/time trial specific geometry in the main frame triangle, with seat tube angle of 78º. The aero profiled frameset is constructed from very high modulus carbon fibres, leading to increased aerodynamic performance while staying lightweight. It is one the few aero frames that weighs under 1100 grams, and it is paired with a featherweight 350g aero fork for excellent climbing performance. The integrated reversable seatpost is isolated from road shock by elastomers that dampen frame vibrations and permit the seatpost to flex vertically, improving the comfort of the rider - three different hardnesses of elastomers are supplied with the seatpost so that riders can adjust the damping suit their needs and comfort. For 2010 Look have introduced the concept of authorised Test Centres to ensure that their frames will only be available from dealers with proper knowledge of such an advanced product. It is also a condition of the 2010 Look warranty that customers must visit an authorised dealer for a face to face consultation at some point before the bike/frame is handed over (either prior to ordering or on collection), to make sure that the correct product has been supplied, and that it is properly set up for the rider. We are of course more than happy to offer advice over the telephone or via email, but you will need to visit us before completing your Look purchase - all frameset and bike purchases from Epic Cycles include a free professional fitting session, during which we can discuss alternative specifications and fine tune component sizes so that the bike is a perfect fit for both your body geometry and riding preferences. All Look cycles come to us as framesets, which can then either be built up into complete bikes in our workshop using components of your choice or supplied as framesets on their own - listed below is just one sample build using the Look 576 frameset. Our Look demo fleet is now ready for test rides - the in store photos below feature our latest 576 test bike. >> Contact us for more information on the Look 576
