Look 585 Origin

The 585 Origin is the perfect compromise between lightness, stiffness, and comfort - in many respects it is Look's most versatile frameset, as it is equally at home in both races and long days rides, such as cyclosportives. At 990 grams (size small), the 585 is a lightweight frame, but it also benefits from the most recent advances in the field of carbon technology.

The 585 frame is constructed using a tube and lug approach, in which each individual frame tube is optimised for its intended purpose, then bonded into joints, or "lugs", which are also optimised according to their position within the frameset. In this manner the proporties of each frame can be carefully controlled. Made from Very High Modulus tubes (VHM), which optimize the weight and stiffness of the frame, the 585 also includes different Look exclusive technologies in the manufacturing of the different carbon frame lugs, e.g. forged at very high pressure for the bottom bracket (the part of the frame the most subject to stress) to ensure optimum rigidity; woven for the seat post and head tube.

With its 100% carbon Monobloc HSC5 SL fork it also benefits from exclusive Look technology with its moulded and compressed dropouts - the complete frame and fork assembly weighs just 1300 grams.  A Look ErgoPost 4 high modulus carbon seatpost is also included as part of every 585 frameset.

For 2010 Look have introduced the concept of authorised Test Centres to ensure that their frames will only be available from dealers with proper knowledge of such an advanced product. It is also a condition of the 2010 Look warranty that customers must visit an authorised dealer for a face to face consultation at some point before the bike/frame is handed over (either prior to ordering or on collection), to make sure that the correct product has been supplied, and that it is properly set up for the rider. We are of course more than happy to offer advice over the telephone or via email, but you will need to visit us before completing your Look purchase - all frameset and bike purchases from Epic Cycles include a free professional fitting session, during which we can discuss alternative specifications and fine tune component sizes so that the bike is a perfect fit for both your body geometry and riding preferences.

All Look cycles come to us as framesets, which can then either be built up into complete bikes in our workshop using components of your choice or supplied as framesets on their own - listed below are just sample builds using the Look 585 Origin frameset.
