Look 695The Look 695 represents the finest carbon frame technology available today - a frame offering unrivalled steering precision thanks to the unique integration of stem, headset and fork, together with exceptional power transfer thanks to its patented crankset. To answer to the demands of all riders, the 695 is available in two versions - 695 SR (Super Rigid) for those racing cyclists looking for maximum power transfer and the 695 SL version that introduces vertical compliance for riders looking for a bike with a more comfortable and less demanding ride feel (this version is aimed at the long distance or fast sportive rider). The new HSC 7 fork, the ZED 2 crank, the new Head Fit 3 headset, the C-stem and the E-Post are all totally integrated with the 695 frame. They were specifically developed for that frame, to make the 695 homogenous, rigid, lightweight, stable and easy to handle. For optimal effort transmission, the 695 is equipped with the best crankset presently available on the market : the ZED 2 crankset is the culmination of five years of research, and was field tested by athletes at the Beijing Olympics. It takes weight vs stiffness performance to entirely new levels. To integrate it, the 695 has an oversized bottom bracket (with massively oversized bearings of 65 mm). The down tube, seat tube and stays wrap around the bottom bracket casing and extend without a break thanks to Look's CFD concept (Continuous Fibre Design). The crankset is formed in a single piece of carbon (pedal cranks plus axle plus spider). The technology of the three-lobe insert at the end of pedal cranks allows for adjusting the length of the cranks from 170, 172.5 to 175 mm without changing the crankset, and while being compatible with all the pedals on the market. The C-STEM carbon stem is designed for the 695. Its patented tightening enables the stem to be adjusted from -9° to +13°. This avoids adding spacers that lessen the bike’s lateral rigidity and steering precision. A elliptical insert in the handlebar clamp means that the stem length can be varied by up to 10 mm. Finally, its ultra-light carbon body and titanium screws give the C-STEM outstanding rigidity for a weight of only 160 grams. The 695's integrated E-Post optimises frame weight and performance, while allowing for up to 3.5cm of height adjustment (after cutting) and uses a system of different density elastomer inserts to adjust the cushioning of the saddle/rider. The HSC 7 fork is 15% more rigid and 16% lighter than the previously range-topping HSC 6. Constructed from 100% single-piece carbon it weighs just 295 grams. Back in 2010 Look introduced the concept of authorised Test Centres to ensure that their frames will only be available from dealers with proper knowledge of such an advanced product. It is also a condition of the Look warranty that customers must visit an authorised dealer for a face to face consultation at some point before the bike/frame is handed over (either prior to ordering or on collection), to make sure that the correct product has been supplied, and that it is properly set up for the rider.
