Orbea Onix 2011

The brief for Orbea in developing the latest Onix was to design a blend of tube shapes, geometry and materials that delivers a sportive specific riding experience, combining a fast but highly forgiving ride with stable handling. And they have succeeded - if there is one word that perfectly captures the ride quality of Onix it is "smooth", making the Onix a bike that is a joy to ride whatever the length of ride...even over the best of British road surfaces.

The Orbea Onix inherits a number of features from the range topping Orca - not least of which is the ultra stylish appearance of the frameset, along with design touches that are both effective and attractive, such as the lightweight polished dropouts, integrated head badge and cable guides, and the sleek fork profile.

The frame is a monocoque structure using T700 carbon fibre that guarantees the performance of the frame with a perfect finish and great strength. Like the Orca, the Onix uses what they term "Size Specific Nerve" technology (or SSN) - in plain language this means that the tube diameters and carbon laminate layers vary with frame size to ensure that the riding experience remains the same throughout the size range.

At Epic Cycles we pride ourselves on providing bikes to suit your own individual needs. So if you see a bike that you like, but would prefer an alternative build please talk to us about changing components to meet your requirements. Alternatively, we can start with the base frameset and build from scratch to your specification.
