The complete redesign of the Opal for 2010 has delivered a bike that is ideally suited both to road racing and to fast sportive riding. Designed to be all out racing machine that has the capability to compete in weeks long stage races, the Opal also offers sufficient long distance comfort to satisfy those riders who want top level performance for race days, but who also enjoy long days in the saddle on training camps or when taking part in cyclosportives or leisure rides.

The Opal frame is a monocoque structure that is built from unidirectional "Silver" carbon fibres, which are high modulus fibres that provide high levels of stiffness with vibration absorption for maximum pedalling efficiency combined with long distance compfort. The uniderectional fibres are are laid so that they are aligned in the direction that optimises their strength and flexibility for each specific application, whether in the main triangle, bottom bracket, seat stays etc. This ensures maximum performance at minimum weight.

Like the Orca and Onix, the Opal uses what Orbea call "Size Specific Nerve" technology (or SSN) - in plain language this means that the tube diameters and carbon laminate layers vary with frame size to ensure that the riding experience remains the same throughout the size range.

All new bike purchases include a free professional fitting session, but if you are unable to visit the store for any reason we will happily advise on sizing over the phone or via email.

Test rides are available on most road bikes following a fitting session - but please call or email to confirm availability of model/size as we can't carry every combination!

And if you would like us to deliver your item to you, rather than taking it away in person, we are very happy to do so at no cost to mainland UK (excludes Highlands and Islands).
