Orbea Orca Gold

The 2011 Orca is the latest evolution of Orbea legendary range topping road bike. The Orca is an on-going project for Orbea, with constant feedback from the professional ranks, including the world-class Euskaltel-Euskadi professional cycling team and Olympic champion Samuel Sanchez, feeding directly into research and innovation processes designed to keep the Orca at the forefront of bike performance. The Orbea Gold ultra-high modulus carbon fibre used in the monocoque construction of the Orca Gold provides the lowest weight and maximum stiffness/power transfer possible - although it manages to do so while still delivering a remarkably smooth and flowing ride.

For 2011 Orbea have enhanced both the stiffness and comfort of the Orca, while adopting an all new frame shape that retains the elegance and sweeping lines of the Orca Classic at the same time as delivering superior aerodynamics, as part of their AIZoneE project. The 2011 Orca also incorporates a new ultra-low friction internal cable routing system - known as Direct Cable Routing or DCR - which makes gear shifting much smoother, reduces maintenance, and adds to the aerodynamics and aestethics of the frame.

Like other top level Orbea framesets, the Orca uses what Orbea term "Size Specific Nerve" technology (or SSN) - in plain language this means that the tube diameters and carbon laminate layers vary with frame size to ensure that the riding experience remains the same throughout the size range.

While the Orca Gold is designed to be a world class pro-level racing frameset, it is also aimed at serious amateur cyclists who want the very best performance coupled with style - the frame shapes and paint finishes of the Orca are simply stunning, and a real head turner out on the local club run or sportive.
